About Me

Hi there!
I’m Jennifer and I am the owner and primary photographer of j.woodbery photography. I started my business in October 2009 not long after my first son was born and it has been an adventure ever since!I am the proud wife to my husband John and we have the sweetest children on the planet. Edmond (five) and Henry (two) have the kindest hearts and are very loving and laid back. We couldn’t ask for better kiddos! Here we are at our wedding in October 2012 (photos by Unplugged Photography):I grew up in the Shelby county area and graduated from the University of Montevallo (side note- my degree is actually in communication studies!). I also attended classes at the Birmingham School of Photography and attend various creative workshops and business seminars yearly to keep my creative juices flowing and my business running as smoothly as possible.I love and am inspired by everything vintage, well directed movies, good music, spending time with my friends and family, and great food! Mostly, I love being a mom and wife.

When I think about photography and the way it makes me feel, I become speechless. Creating a piece of art that expresses the love and joy in my clients has become more than just a career for me, but something that is second nature and a constant thought in the back of my mind. I love love, and I love capturing it for my clients to look back on for years to come!

If I were to describe my work, the first word that comes to mind is romantic. It has a natural feel with a vintage twist. It is timeless, unique, and evokes emotion just as if the couple is feeling it.

I love having fun with my clients and getting to know them. By the time the session or wedding is over, we have grown to be friends. When shooting, I keep things completely relaxed and just allow my clients to be themselves. Part of the time it doesn’t even seem like the camera is present. I have my clients interact with each other to connect with one another; this really helps to bring out the romance and ease any awkward tension!

I love when this happens too: photos WITH my client-friends! Hampton Road Studios pictured in the top right.
All of this to say, I love doing what I do and would be honored to be a part of this special time in your life! Weddings are very near and dear to my heart. I would love to hear your story. Let’s get coffee and talk about your photo dreams! Thanks for stopping by; I can’t wait to work with you!
