About Me

Hi there!
I’m Jennifer and I am the owner and primary photographer of j.woodbery photography. I started my business in October 2009 not long after my first son was born and it has been an adventure ever since! I am the proud mother to the sweetest children on the planet. Edmond (seven), Henry (five), and Oliver (two) have the kindest hearts and are very loving and laid back. I really couldn’t ask for better kiddos! Here’s a few recent shots of these cuties.
I’m desperately overdue for headshots of my own and hope to get some done soon, but in the meantime, here’s a (most tasteful) shot from my recent boudoir session with Matt Mathews Photography, just so you can put the face to the name! I loved being on the other side of the camera and feeling pampered for once and left feeling completely empowered. Maybe normal headshots to come in the near future. :)
I grew up in the Shelby county, AL area and graduated from the University of Montevallo (side note- my degree is actually in communication studies!). I also attended classes at the Birmingham School of Photography and attend various creative workshops and business seminars yearly to keep my creative juices flowing and my business running as smoothly as possible. I love and am inspired by art in all forms, well directed movies, good music, spending time with my friends and family, and great food! Mostly, I love being a mom and friend. When I think about photography and the way it makes me feel, I become speechless. Creating a piece of art that expresses the love and joy in my clients has become more than just a career for me, but something that is second nature and a constant thought in the back of my mind. I love love, and I love capturing it for my clients to look back on for years to come!

If I were to describe my work, the first word that comes to mind is romantic. It has a natural feel with a vintage twist. It is timeless, unique, and evokes emotion just as if the couple is feeling it.

I love having fun with my clients and getting to know them. By the time the session or wedding is over, we have grown to be friends. When shooting, I keep things completely relaxed and just allow my clients to be themselves. Part of the time it doesn’t even seem like the camera is present. I have my clients interact with each other to connect with one another; this really helps to bring out the romance and ease any awkward tension!

I love when this happens too: photos WITH my client-friends! Hampton Road Studios pictured in the top right.
All of this to say, I love doing what I do and would be honored to be a part of this special time in your life! Weddings are very near and dear to my heart. I would love to hear your story. Let’s get coffee and talk about your photo dreams! Thanks for stopping by; I can’t wait to work with you!
