Happy New Year!
Is anyone else in shock at how fast 2016 flew by? As I went through my entire photo library from last year pulling photos for my best-of posts, I sat in shock and awe at the fact that I’m right back at the beginning of another year. This business never ceases to amaze me in the way that it not only continues to grow, but how it brings just the right clients to my door. You guys, these thirty-three couples below were some seriously amazing couples! As my business has grown, I’ve been able to hone in on my style and how I actually like to shoot, and the people that come to me want me for just that. I can’t say enough how great this year has been for my photography.
In the midst of shooting (and shooting and shooting, and editing and editing), I’ve really learned more about myself and my style. As 2016 progressed, my style began to change a little, and you’ll probably see that as you scroll through these photos. I thought about re-editing the ones from earlier in the year, but I decided against it. I’d rather show my journey than try to change it! And I do still love the photos from earlier on in the year. I learned that I like my photos to be a little different from the norm- a little raw, gritty, natural and organic. Not just in posing and connection, but in my post work too. I was able to refine that into what I now know is the perfect post processing for me and my style, keeping all of that goodness but just cleaning it up a little. Not quite light and bright, not quite dark and moody, but a happy medium where I can go either way and still be pleased with my work.
Anyway, that may be a whole bunch of mumbo jumbo to you, but it’s been a year of learning for me. I’ve grown as a person, as a business owner, as an artist. And I tend to get really word-vomitty when I’m speaking from the heart, or when I get passionate about my work. So, sorry not sorry.
I wish I had the time to go through each of these images and share wonderful words about every couple. Each of you are so special to me. I’m so grateful to you for choosing me as your photographer (seriously).
If you’ve read this far, thanks! I know you really came here to see the photos and heads up- there’s A LOT of photos! Trying to just choose a few from each session was incredibly difficult, but I managed. Maybe one day I’ll get around to blogging each of these individually and sharing even more, but until that day comes… well, just enjoy this post of lots of goodness all together.
GUYS! 2016 was so great. Can’t wait to see what 2017 holds, and I get to start it off with my first engagement session of the year this weekend. So, cheers to that! Much love!
